St. Therese and Her Prayer for Priests

>> Thursday, October 1, 2009

It is the Year of the Priest, and we remember today on the Feast of St. Therese, that it is important to pray for priests. Therese was an avid prayer for priests, and this was one thing she loved about being a Carmelite:

How beautiful is the vocation, O Mother, which has as its aim the preservation of the salt destined for souls! This is Carmel's vocation since the sole purpose of our prayers and sacrifices is to be the apostle of the apostles. We are to pray for them while they are preaching to souls, through their words and especially through their example. I must stop here, for were I to continue I would never come to an end!"
-- St. Therese
Let us join with St. Therese and pray this year and always for priests:

On the Feast of St. Therese

So far it has been such a blessed day - busy, but blessed. Because of that, I haven't been able to put together a post about the Little Flower... but for now, be satisfied with this quote, and links to previous articles we have posted on the blog about Therese.

"I understood that to become a saint one had to suffer much, seek out always the most perfect thing to do, and forget self. I understood, too, that there are many degrees of perfection and each soul was free to respond to the advances of the Our Lord, to do little or much for Him, in a word, to choose among the sacrifices He was asking. Then, as in the days of my childhood, I cried out: 'My God I choose all!' I do not want to be a saint by halves, I'm not afraid to suffer for You, I fear only one thing: to keep my own will; so take it, for I choose all that You will!"
