Bless Some Throats
>> Tuesday, February 3, 2009
I hope you all enjoyed your FREE Denny's grand slams, today. Lucky!
As for me, I am currently wasting 6 hours in Hong Kong with Mikey and Fiona, and so I figured I would post at least one thing while I was here.
This will be short, but today is the feast of St. Blaise, bishop and martyr.
And I am not sure if they had a blessing for throats at the masses in Vallejo today. But just in case you want to get another person to bless your throats, or you want to go around blessing other peoples' throats, here is the blessing from the Book of Blessings (and yes a lay person can do it):
1634. A lay minister, touching the throat of each person with the crossed candles and, without making the sign of the cross, says the prayer of blessing.
Through the intercession of Saint Blaise, bishop and
martyr,
may God deliver you from every disease of the throat
and from every other illness:
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Each person responds:
R. Amen.
Enjoy.
