A message from Father Leatherby




So, that video was taken 2+ weeks ago.

And, as many of you know already, Rence was mistaken, and Father Leatherby will not be returning to St. Catherine of Siena Parish. (At least not in the near future).

Father Leatherby does send his love, and he is disheartened that he could not say goodbye personally, but he has given me permission to post his farewell e-mail, which he sent last Friday.

To all my dear parishioners of St. Catherine,

With mixed emotions I write to inform you that I received a phone call from the diocese today informing me that I have been appointed pastor of Sacred Heart Parish in Alturas. I honestly expected the opposite news from the call. I thought that they would tell me to prepare to head back to Vallejo soon. However, our dear Lord had other plans.

My emotions are a mixture of sadness and joy; sadness, because I will not be returning to all of you who have been such a blessing in my life; joy, because Jesus is inviting me to shepherd a flock.

I am sorry that I am unable to contact all of you personally. Please know that I would have liked to. Even though we had only a short time together, I hope you'll always feel comfortable getting in touch with me if you'd ever like to. I ask you to please remember me in your prayers. I will certainly do the same for you.
