The Joy of Giving Lives On
by Joselito "Jazo" Moises
5 December 2007
As I woke up that morning, thoughts in my head commenced: "Are you ready for today? It's Outreach Concert, have some fun, and be joyful."
And through the coldness, I did. I did have some fun, and I truly was happy. So, I woke up that Saturday morning and I got there one hour late (in Filipino style!). I was expecting the same old outreach concert set-up, but I got more than that. Cloths of colors and balloons (yes, balloons) scattered the room with goodness.
So, as this Outreach Concert was also entitled "Dance, Dance, Dance", I knew there had to be well, dancing! And so there was. As I walked in, I also saw various members of CYM practicing with the St. Vincent's Youth Group for a dance number to the music from "Grease". After I watched for a while, I was whisked upstairs to the place where I was assigned - lights. I've never seen the concert from this angle, so it was something new.
10 minutes later...Our clients arrived! Without the help of our wonderful (and enthusiastic) Hospitality people, this event surely wouldn't be as joyful as it could have been. After they got their pictures with Santa (who wasn't late), they were brought inside. Then, the show started.
I must say that throughout my *starts counting* 5 outreach concerts, this one was filled with lots of energy. Music and dance filled the room with happiness, and we all were clapping to familiar tunes from "Hairspray", The Supremes, and "Grease". After the grand finale Grease balloons fell from the sky, which I think is an Outreach Concert first.
When I got the chance to go down, I was able to interact with the clients and I surely could see how much joy and fun they had inside of themselves. Even though this year I had the least interaction, I still could feel the warmth and joy in the room. So throughout these many years, "The Joy of Giving" still lives on.

Yup! This was definitely a remembrance to keep. Soon as the concert started, I could actually feel the joy filling the room as the music came into my ears. I definitely had a fun time too. Chatting with the elderly people was a new experience for me that I gladly and thankfully made.
